Q&A: On evangelising and falling back to a sinful life. On loosing hope and feeling envy and on having no priest or sacraments etc.

Hello. In my previous email I wrote how I was incapable of evangelising. I started off talking to my parents who go to the Novus Ordo, and told them about how it was invalid. They continue to go there and they also believe all religions have some truth in them and so I feel it a pain or even useless  to talk to them about the deeper things like heresy, but then a part of me says try harder and I am afraid to do so because I am scared of starting a blow-up argument. That is my own family. As for others you suggested briefly mentioning God and the Blessed Virgin and I am afraid of doing it out of human respect and I also don't know how to find  the opportunities or openings to do so. All this is on the outside. Internally, I tremble when I think I could fall back into sin. I omit the sins of impurity or rash judgement but then spiritually envy people who were brought up Catholic. I omit bad language but I do not take interest in my work which is sloth. That is why I lose hope and feel I am already lost.  I believe my so called half hearted conversion is not true or of God. I am tempted to let go because I am not getting better. And I neither have priests for guidance nor sacraments. What should I do? Cordially

Hi Michael

You don't have to do much in order to evangelise, therefore, do what you can and stop worry. Over time it will become easier as all things become easier with practise.

If your parents don't want to embrace traditional Catholicism, you could mention sedevacantism or the problems with Vatican II when an opportunity arrives. If people don't want to listen about sedevacantism, you could instead focus on making them live a better life, such as praying more and thinking more about God. Many people don't understand anything about sedevacantism or agree with that they teach anything wrong, and then one can talk about other things first, and make a mention about Francis or his heresies also. It is always good to have papers with important information at hand, so you could write down all things important and all the proofs and hand out to people. For the same reason, it is good to have dvds to give out to people about all the important information, such as on Vatican II.

Give your parents the dvds, perhaps they will watch them and learn, I can send you more dvds if you give me your adress. You can also buy things from MHFM (mostholyfamilymonastery.com) on Vatican II and give out to people, such as information on Vatican II and Francis heresies, both in book form and dvd.

All religions have some truths in them, such as that one should do good, or belief in higher powers, but their faiths can't save them and they need to embrace Catholicism; but there might also be hope for unbelievers, in that they can die with a perfect contrition and an illumination of the true faith through a special grace and intervention by Holy Trinity through the Blessed Virgin Mary.

I understand it may feel useless to talk about deeper things with parents or friends or others that don't want to talk about it and that don't understand or believe in sedevacantism, that is why it is better to talk about a Heavenly Family and God and Jesus passion and the love of God. But one could also mention about Francis heresies and Vatican II and deeper things whenever an opportunity arrives. For the same reason, you don't have to worry when or how you should talk to people about God, just remember that there can come opportunities for you to talk about God with people provided you have the intention of wanting to talk about God with them, and if you have this intention, God will direct the conversation so that an opportunity may arise to talk about God. I have learned this from personal experience from time to time, namely, that opportunities to talk about God or some other divine truths often comes in a discussion. That is why you can always try to look for opportunities in any conversation to mention something, and you don't have to worry about always talking about God, or that it must be about God immediately in your conversation.

If you want to be saved and do not want to sin against God and have a will not to sin against God, you will receive His help to avoid falling into sin. So trust and think about God and the Blessed Virgin Mary, and they will trust and think about you in a stronger and more intimare way than before. The same is true of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who always desires to help us, provided we only ask Her help in a more intimare and close way. God always helps us, but if we do more for God, we will receive more aid from God, such as the intercession, closeness and protection of the Blessed Virgin. If you perform the consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary, you will also have Mary in your soul and body in a more intimate way. If you have not performed the consecration to the Blessed Virgin in order to find Jesus in your body and soul also, please considering doing so as fast as possible. The more faith you have, the more you will receive, so believe in the consecration with your whole heart that what it teaches is true.

If you start to think good about everything and all people and pray for peace in your soul and body, then the envy thoughts will disappear. One often feels envy when others have something one don't have oneself. So if you stop to think negatively about others being brought up with the Catholic faith, you will feel better and have better thoughts. You should rather be glad and thank God for giving people the Catholic faith through being born into it. And if there are things you don't understand, you can always pray about it and ask God why, and you may be inspired to know the truth of what you are thinking about.

If you are active in other ways then you are not slothful in those ways, but if you believe you are slothful in the spiritual life (or corporeal work), then you need to start doing more in order to come out of this slothfulness, such as reading more, praying more, working more, and thinking good about God and others more, and evangelising more. If you have a will always to proceed in your spiritual life and you actually do something, then you are not slothful.

If you feel lost only because of the evangelising problem, then do something about it. You don't have to worry too much about others if it makes you loose your peace. It is more important firstly to save one's own soul. And the more you advance yourself in the spiritual life, the more easy will evangelising become, but also fastings, penances, mortifications and sacrifices for the Love of God and souls. But one needs to pray also for the help in becoming better in everything, and if you feel you have defects in areas, pray for the graces of being cured. Also pray the Rosary and pray for the grace before the Rosary to receive this or that grace in order to do that or this better.

What are you tempted to go back too? If you don't tell me what you are tempted about, I can't give you any exact advices. But you can always pray for help from God and the Blessed Virgin Mary to understand your vocation in life, whether it be living a more worldly life in the world with work and family, or of living more secluded in one's home.

I also don't have a priest for guidance, but one can always pray for all the help and guidances one are in need of, and one can even talk to other people about one's needs (such as a religious person you think is a heretic but that still can give you good advises, such as Vatican II priests, your parents, friends, or even a psychologist), and God may give you the answers though them. For God often works through other people in order to make us understand things; so consider when you talk to people and they tell you things about your own life that you might need or do, if this came from God, and them makes the changes necessary.

I hope this answers your questions.
If there is anything else, please let me know.

God bless,
Jerome.

Q&A: "I keep falling into the same sins again. God has abandoned me. I also don't do any more good works. Prayer too is a burden."

Hello Jerome. I keep falling into the same sins again. Some of them are hatred of my parents for giving me a bad upbringing despite their being Catholic and blasphemous thoughts. I also feel that the number of my sins (as St Alphonsus says in his sermons) is complete and that there is no point in going on since God has abandoned me. I also don't do any more good works for the same reason. Prayer too is a burden.
Secondly, about evangelisation. I am unable to debate or argue and therefore avoid evangelising others. I also feel aversion towards the effort needed. I live in a country that is anti-Christian and I fear being persecuted if I begin to spread the Faith. I feel I will never be able to evangelise. But evangelisation is a necessity if one wishes to be saved. I could then direct people to your material. Then questions keep cropping up such as, were my dead ancestors saved? I know the answer is no, but I am too afraid to say so and avoid such situations altogether. What do I do in this situation? Christus Rex

Hi Michael

If you fall into sins of impurity, for example, you need to make some changes in your life in order to avoid falling into this sin. Please read this article below and implement the changes necessary (such as the recommendations on media, and internet surfing etc.) in order to avoid exposing yourself to the occasions of sins on the internet and television:

Concerning feeling hatred. If you make a will to stop hating others and be so negative about yourself (your parents, neighbors, friends etc.) you will feel better and have better thoughts and this will help you to avoid sin also.

If you think good about others and about God, you will, as a consequence through grace, have better thoughts about yourself. If you think good about God, God will think good about you and give you better and holier thoughts.
Thinking negatively about oneself and others have a major effect on how one will feel (if you think bad about others, God will punish you as a consequence; but if you think good about others, you will be Graced with better thoughts about yourself). Therefore, make an effort to think good about others and even of yourself, in the sense that you have hope of becoming better and saving your soul.

Try to judge yourself, rather than others, and try to go against your own will, and pray every day to gain the Good Spirit and the Love of God. These are the quickest ways towards achieving the Love of God.

If you fear that the number of your sins is closing in, please, do not sin anymore! It is not hard to stop sinning, provided you ask for help (pray) and do what you can. In order to stop sinning, you also need to have a will not to sin and offend the all good God anymore deliberately. If you do not have such a will, you will never succeed in living a good life. Change your will and beseech the Blessed Mother of God, the Virgin Mary, for help and you will receive a change of heart, I can assure you that -- provided you have a will to change. If you don't want to change and stop with sinning, there is no hope.

God abandons no one until the last moment! Please believe in this with your whole heart. Your salvation depends upon it. Do not offend and sadden God by thinking that He has abandoned you when in reality, He loves you and desires your Salvation. It is only your own negative thoughts which plays tricks on you, making you believe that all is lost even though it is not!

Start to think positive about God, such as that He loves you and desires your Salvation, and see yourself in a better light, such as that there is hope for you and that you will, and, can change your life. You are not abandoned by God until death. Please stop to think that you are abandoned and you will feel a lot better.

Also, do not forget to pray and ask Our Lady for help to sort out your life -- and She will help you. Our Lady is always glad to help us out but we often forget to ask Her help. Pray the Rosary every day, preferably the fifteen decades. Believe me, if you start to pray the Rosary, all your problem will vanish immediately. Sister Lucy of Fatima, regarding the Holy Rosary, said the following words to Fr. Augustin Fuentes on December 26, 1957:

“Look, Father, the Most Holy Virgin, in these last times in which we live, has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary. She has given this efficacy to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families, of the families of the world or of the religious communities, or even of the life of peoples and nations, that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.”

See how to pray the Rosary in this link:

We highly recommend that all 15 decades of the Rosary be prayed daily. Our Lady repeatedly emphasized the importance of praying the Rosary each day in her messages at Fatima. She even said that Francisco would have to pray ‘many rosaries’ before he could go to Heaven. You should prioritize reading the word of God (Catholic books and the Catholic Bible) and praying before other activities to grow in the spirit. Praying all 15 decades of the Rosary each day can be accomplished in a variety of ways. However, for many it is best accomplished by praying a part of the Rosary at different times of the day, for example, the joyful mysteries in the morning, sorrowful mysteries at midday, and glorious mysteries in the evening. ‘Salve Regina’ only needs to be prayed at the end of the entire day’s rosary. An essential part of the Rosary is meditation on the mysteries, episodes in the life of Our Lord and Our Lady. This means thinking about them, visualizing them, considering the graces and merits displayed in them, and using them for inspiration to better know and love God. It is also common to focus on a particular virtue with each mystery.

You must pray every day and if you do not pray you will be damned. Pray everyday, do not let a single day pass without praying and spiritual reading. And when I say praying, I do not mean only 10 or 15 minutes a day. But a lot more preferably, such as one hour at least or more, if you have the time. Also, try to read some spiritual book at least 30 minutes every day.

If you want great Catholic books, check out the link below:

Please also look into this article with questions similar to you from a person who was in a similar situation as you are now:

Prayer may feel burdensome for a while, but provided you persevere in prayer and change your heart concerning God and prayer, and approach it with a better intention, it will become a lot easier and even a joy. Also, if you ask for help to pray better, you will receive help. Before beginning the Rosary, make sure to ask for some specific grace that you need in your life. The Rosary is powerful in granting you all your requests that are good for your temporal ad spiritual wellbeing.

If you are burdened with sadness and bad thoughts, ask Our Lord and Our Lady for the help to feel better and to have better thoughts -- and you will receive help. The problem is that we often forget to ask about the things we need, even simple things, such as help in praying better, feeling better and having better thoughts. If we ask them about this, we are sure to receive help.

Also read this article that contains some helpful advices for you on prayer and spiritual advancement:

You don't have to debate or argue in order to evangelise. You can just quickly mention God, the Blessed Virgin, Heaven or Hell, or give them some DVDs or other material, and it would be sufficient. Many people don't care about God or talking about God today, so you don't have to worry too much about it. But when possible, you can try to drag the conversation towards the Meaning of Life and Eternal Life in Heaven (or other topics such as Creation), and that there is a Heavenly Family in Heaven to look forward too, provided one only believe. I my self usually give out some DVDs, or the homepage, or talk about the meaning of life and a Heavenly Family in the afterlife.

Most people want a meaning for life to exist after death, therefore, it is always a good topic to talk about Eternal Life in Heaven and a Heavenly Family.

When it comes to evangelisation, do what you can, follow your conscience, and feel at ease.
And yes, you can direct people to the material as a form of evangelisation. It is easier if you have the homepage already printed out to hand to people. One can make templates with the homepages in a word program and print them out and cut with a scissor (OpenOffice and LibreOffice are two great and free word programs). One often feels bad in one's conscience when one does nothing about evangelisation. So if you feel better by doing something, even if little, gain a habit of doing it. Over time, it will get easier and easier and what felt hard in the beginning, will feel easy with practise.

The Catholic Church and the Bible teaches that the Catholic Faith and dying in a State of Grace is necessary for salvation. If this be lacking, there seems to be no hope. I know it is hard to think about this and I have thought about it a lot my self. At present, we can only try to save our own souls and that of others as best we can.

God Bless
I hope this answers your questions.
If there is anything else, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Jerome

(Please, pray for me, since I am in great need of prayers currently since I find my self in a spiritual crisis of sort.)

On the Immense Value and Merit in Patient Suffering for the Love of Jesus Christ

“If one could understand the value of an act of love for God in suffering, one would experience the greatest grief at being obliged to pass a single moment without being able to make this meritorious act. Happy is he who, in suffering, makes acts of love!”

“God is infinitely good and wise. He shows His goodness towards you by sending you crosses. The more bitter your pains, the more meritorious they are. Every cross is a blessing from Heaven, a blessing which surpasses all the suffering of the world. If one were able to understand the full value of crosses, it would be a terrible torment to be deprived of them.”

-Very early one morning, Father Paul seeing a peasant who had come a long distance through a snowstorm to hear Mass in the church at Steenbrugge, said to him: “If you could see the immense merits which your courage has procured for you, you would be astonished, and you might yet increase them in a incredible measure, by saying, ‘All for the love of Jesus.’”

-To a servant girl in Antwerp Father Paul said, “Before eating, sleeping, opening or closing a door or any other action, always have the intention of doing all for the love of Jesus. In this way you will continually reap a rich harvest for heaven.”

-“Jesus of infinite love, I feel pity for You, for every blow, every wound, every drop of blood.”
-“Oh love, oh infinite love of Jesus, I ask You for a heart to love You more and more; to love only You!”

“If it were permitted to one of the elect to live again in this world, he would submit with joy to all the sufferings that men have ever endured here below, in order to add to his merits that which he would acquire by the recital of one Ave Maria.”

This last quote is supported by an anecdote taken from ‘The Secret of the Rosary’ by St. Louis de Montfort: Blessed Alan also relates that a nun who had always had a great devotion to the Rosary appeared after her death to one of her sisters in religion and said to her, “If I were able to return in my body to have the chance of saying just a single Hail Mary, even without great fervour, I would gladly go through the sufferings that I had during my last illness all over again, in order to gain the merit of this prayer.” It is to be noted that she had been bed-ridden and suffered agonizing pains for several years before she died.

Prayers to the Sorrowful Mother

Mary, most Holy Virgin and Queen of Martyrs, accept the sincere homage of my filial affection. Into Thy heart, pierced by so many swords, do Thou welcome my poor soul. Receive it as the companion of Thy sorrows at the foot of the Cross, on which Jesus died for the redemption of the world. With Thee, O sorrowful Virgin, I will gladly suffer all the trials, contradictions, and infirmities which it shall please Our Lord to send me. I offer them all to Thee in memory of Thy sorrows, so that every thought of my mind, and every beat of my heart may be an act of compassion and of love for Thee. And do Thou, sweet Mother, have pity on me, reconcile me to Thy divine Son Jesus, keep me in His grace and assist me in my last agony, so that I may be able to meet Thee in Heaven and sing Thy glories. Amen.”
An indulgence of 500 days — S.C. Ind., Mar. 20, 1887

Most Holy Virgin and Mother, whose soul was pierced by a sword of sorrow in the Passion of Thy divine Son, and Who in His glorious Resurrection wast filled with never-ending joy at His triumph; obtain for us who call upon Thee, so to be partakers in the adversities of Holy Church and the sorrows of the Sovereign Pontiff, as to be found worthy to rejoice with them in the consolations for which we pray, in the charity and peace of the same Christ our Lord. Amen.”

An indulgence of 500 days – Pius X, Rescript in his own hand, Jan. 25, 1906

A Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory

O gentle Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on them. Be not severe in Your judgments, but let some drops of Your Precious Blood fall upon the devouring flames. And, Merciful Savior, send Your angels to conduct them to a place of refreshment, light and peace. Amen.

OFFERING OF DAILY ACTIONS FOR THE HOLY SOULS

ETERNAL Father, by virtue of Thine generosity and love, I ask that Thou accept all my actions, and that Thou dost multiply their value in favor of every soul in Purgatory. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

O MY GOD! for Your greater glory, and to imitate as closely as possible the generous Heart of Jesus, my Redeemer, and also to testify my devotion to the Blessed Virgin, my Mother, who is also the Mother of the Souls in Purgatory, I place in Her hands all my satisfactory works, as well as the fruit of all those which may be offered for my intention after my death, that She may apply them to the Souls in Purgatory according to Her wisdom and good pleasure. Amen.

O my God, I offer Thee the Precious Blood and Tears shed by Thine only-begotten Son on Calvary, and the Sorrows and Tears of His Blessed Mother, for the remission of our sins, the deliverance of the souls in Purgatory, for our Holy Mother Church, and for the conversion of sinners. Amen.

Most merciful Jesus, by the merits of Thy Holy Childhood, hasten to deliver from the pains of Purgatory the souls suffering there, particularly the soul longest in paying the debt exacted for his earthly transgressions. Graciously take him today to Paradise that he may join the heavenly choir in praising Thee, and will intercede for me in the hour of need. Amen.

Most merciful Jesus, by Thy Nativity and Holy Childhood, hasten to deliver from Purgatory the Poor Souls confined there, particularly the soul of the youngest to incur Thy displeasure, because of youthful carelessness. Graciously take him today to Thy Heavenly Throne, that he may evermore praise and glorify Thee, and will intercede for me in the hour of need. Amen.

Most gentle Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor, captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on the souls of the faithful departed. Be not severe in Thy judgments, but let some drops of Thy Most Precious Blood fall upon the devouring flames, and do Thou, O merciful Savior, send Thy Angels to conduct them into a place of refreshment, light and peace. Amen.

Crucified Lord Jesus, have mercy on us! And help the suffering souls in Purgatory.

DE PROFUNDIS — PSALM 129

Out of the depths have I cried unto Thee, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, O Lord, shalt mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
For there is forgiveness with Thee: because of Thy law, I have waited for Thee, O Lord.
My soul hath waited on His word: my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.
For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him plenteous redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
O Lord, grant them eternal rest,

And let the everlasting light shine upon them.

The Fifteen Secret Tortures and Sufferings of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

My Lord and My God, it is my unchangeable will to honor You in these Fifteen Secret Torments when You shed Your Precious Blood: as many times as there are grains of sand around the seas, as fruit in the orchards, as leaves on the trees, as flowers in the gardens, as stars in the sky, as angels in Heaven, as creatures on earth. So many thousands of times may You be glorified, praised and honored, O Most love-worthy Lord Jesus Christ - Your Holiest Heart, Your Precious Blood, Your Divine Sacrifice for mankind, the Holiest Sacrament of the Altar, the Most Holy Virgin Mary, the nine glorious choirs of Angels and the Blessed Phalanx of the Saints, from myself and everyone, now and forever, and in the eternal ages.

In like manner, I desire, my dear Jesus, to give You thanksgiving, to serve You, to repair and atone for all my ignominies, and to offer You my soul and body as Your possession forever. Likewise, I regret all my sins and beg Your pardon, O my Lord and my God. And I offer You all the merits of Jesus Christ to repair everything, to obtain a happy dying-hour and the deliverance of the souls from Purgatory. This prayer I desire to renew at each hour until my death, O lovable Jesus. Sweet Savior, fortify my resolution and permit not that neither wretched men nor Satan destroy it.

Amen

The Cruz Ave

I salute you, I adore you, I embrace you, O adorable Cross of my Saviour.
Protect us, guard us, save us. Jesus loved you so much, following His example, I love you.

By your holy image calm our fears, that we may feel only peace and confidence.

Q&A: "I'm in real trouble I'm in mortal sin; I have Sacrilegious thoughts; I stopped praying; I have lost hope etc."

“Hello. I'm in real trouble. I'm in mortal sin. When I discovered about the Great Apostasy, I began to pray the Holy Rosary every day. But then something that never happened before began to affect me: sacrilegious thoughts started to just pop up in my mind. I did not want to have them, but even then they would come at any moment into my head. It began to affect my prayers. Everytime I tried to pray, these diabolical thoughts arose. I always had to stop the prayer to banish the thought as fast as I could. Then I began to doubt the effectiveness of my prayers, for hardly God, the Virgin and the saints would attend bad, interrupted prayers such as mine, especially with such horrible thoughts popping up in my head. One day, I was trying to pray the Rosary, but I couldn't do it. I couldn't go with that, not while those thoughts kept affecting me by making me feel ashamed and interrupting the prayer.

“I stopped praying and consequently I had felt dramatically. After some weeks, I had committed a mortal sin. Later, I had lost hope. I was thinking, "I'm going to hell anyway, what difference will it make to commit another venial or mortal sin?" Everything was going from bad to worse. I realized one thing during this time: the sacrilegious thoughts simply stopped. One day, I was reading about the so-called "final impenitence" and how death can come at any time. I was clearly in a state in which I could not be forgiven of my sins, so I tried to achieve the state of grace. At the first time I prayed again, the sacrilegious thoughts came at full strength. I was very ashamed of myself when I tried to pray a Hail Mary. As Our Lord said, when a demon leaves, he returns to his home with other seven demons worse than the first. And I fell again, and currently my heart is petrified. I can't feel contrition, not even attrition. I try to reflect on how I offend God, on His suffering, but it's empty. I try to reflect on Hell, but it does not scare me any more. I can't pray, due to the sacrilegious thoughts that will certainly return. I can't ask anyone to pray for me, because a saint would certainly ignore a prayer for someone who is in mortal sin. It's obvious that the petrified heart is the result of my impenitence: I got used to sin.

“But I did not die yet, after so many sins. If I died right now, I would go straight to Hell, and I would suffer intensely, for I denied God even though I had such a vivid knowledge of Him. I believe that if I am not dead yet, it's because I still have a chance of being saved, I just need to grab it and really fight to never fall again, because this may be my last chance.

But how do I do this?”

Jerome: Hi Erick. Thank you for contacting me. I will try to help you to the best of my abilities. May God’s blessing come upon you while reading this email and give you the light and hope that you are looking for.

If you think you are in mortal sin, then do all things possible to be forgiven and gain God’s friendship again. If you have a priest for confession, confess your sins and resolve never to offend God again with the same sin – and you will be forgiven. If you don’t have a priest, you can confess to any layman or even to me through email in order to get the sin out of you – and even if you can’t receive an absolution, the confession helps so much so that the devil’s power over you will be diminished and the friendship of God be found faster!

A holy angel spoke to the bride and said: “But what should the one who is full of the devil do, since the good Spirit cannot enter him who is full of evil? He should do three things: First, he should make a pure and complete confession of his sins. Even if he cannot directly feel a complete remorse for his sins due to his hardened heart, still the confession will benefit him so much that the devil ceases with his treachery and yields to the good spirit. Second, he should be humble and wish to amend for all the sins he has committed and do the good deeds he can, and then the devil will begin to leave. Third, he should beseech God with humble prayer in order that he may get the good Spirit back and have contrition for the sins he has committed along with true divine love, since the love for God kills the devil. This devil is so envious and full of malice that he would rather die a hundred times than see someone do God the least little good deed out of love.” (The Revelations of St. Bridget, Book 1, Chapter 54)

Also pray that the Holy Spirit may be given back to you. When a person commits a mortal sin, the Holy Spirit leaves and the Evil Spirit approaches instead. (By willfully committing deliberate venial sin, the Good Spirit also diminishes in a soul and gives way to the Evil Spirit). Also pray for the gift of tears, and try to cry for having offended to good God by your sins – when we cry genuine tears for our sins for the Love of God, we will feel forgiven and honest in our good will and love towards God and that we have done a good thing (i.e., crying for God’s sake and for having offended Him), and consequently, this will make us feel that we have gained back God’s friendship. Since we must have hope in God’s goodness and of being forgiven, it is always good to hope that we are forgiven instead of just living in fear and despair of not being able to be Saved. We must have peace in our souls (such as the peace found in God’s friendship and in the thought that He wants us good and that he desires to Save us) and if we lack this inner peace, it will be harder for God to work with us. Find peace first and have an intention of pleasing God in everything, and you will find God and forgiveness. The easiest way of finding peace is simply just to repent of the sins committed honestly along with an intention of not committing them again.

Some recommended prayers:

Do you want to give up all your sins for the love and friendship of God because you consider His friendship and love more important than your own will and attachment to sin? If you have such a disposition of pleasing God in everything and of pleasing Him more than yourself, consider yourself forgiven.

If you have a hard heart, pray for the grace of gaining a softer Heart for the Love of God – a heart that cares more about God and the things of God so that you will be thinking more of pleasing Him in your daily life. Remember this: even if you don’t feel any tears or sorrow at first, this in no way means that you are damned or that God won’t forgive you. Some people have harder to cry and “feel” sorrow, while others have easier. God sees your intention (i.e., if you have an intention of pleasing Him and better yourself), and judges you accordingly. Pray for a good death everyday and that you will die in His grace since this is the most important grace of all; without it, everything will be lost in the end!

Please continue to pray the Holy Rosary and other forms of mental or vocal prayers everyday, and do not let the devil or your own confusion deceive you into stop praying. (See http://www.catholic-saints.net/rosary/ for the information on How to Pray the Rosary). Without prayer you will infallibly be lost; and also, without spiritual reading, you might not save yourself. Prayer is more important than reading, but spiritual reading will help you stay focused on what to do in your spiritual life, and through reading, God will also be able to speak to your heart. Pray especially those prayers that speak to your heart and good desires, such as Prayers to the Holy Spirit, or Jesus Crucified or Jesus Merciful (meditating and thinking on the Passion of Jesus is the easiest way of finding the Love of God), or any prayer to the Holy Mother of God in order to gain Her protection and friendship. Those who are genuinely devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary will never be lost, according to the unanimous teaching of theologians – and that is why we must never stop addressing and approach Her in our thoughts and desires. Please read these important articles on the Love of Mary and the Importance of Devotion to Her:

Do not let sacrilegious thoughts affect your prayer. Provided the thoughts are against your will and you do not agree with them and oppose them, they will only gain you more merit for the eternal life. Since Satan wants you to avoid approaching God in your thoughts and stop praying/meditating, he will tempt you for a while with this intention in mind with God’s permission. But this is only a test and provided you move forward in your spiritual life, these thoughts will be diminished and eventually go away. When Satan sees that he can’t make you fall with sacrilegious thoughts, he will instead focus on other temptations – such as sensuality, gluttony or pride. But this might not be something you have to worry about now or that affects you at present. But remember, when thoughts appear in your mind that are sinful and that you don’t agree with, such thoughts are not sinful in themselves and provided you reject them, you won’t be held liable or accountable for them. Also, the kind of life you live will also have an effect on the kind of thoughts you receive. If you live a bad life (if you live in deliberate venial sin or mortal sin) this will give the devil more power over you and hence, he will be able to tempt you more easily. The more you strive to live a holy life, the more will the devil’s power over you be diminished, and consequently, the bad thoughts become less and less.

However, even holy people and saints are not without temptations, and God often permits the devil to tempt even saints in order that their reward and crown in Heaven might be increased. When there is more fighting—there is more merit to gain.

I have written about temptations and bad thoughts previously and the reason for why they can appear and what to do about it. Please consult the following two articles for more help on the issue:

When bad thoughts appear, do not stop the prayer, just ignore the bad thoughts and put them aside gently. If you can’t put them aside gently, just try to ignore them and continue with your prayer. If you do so, you will gain immensely since when there is more fighting and combat in prayer, the reward and merit will be greater. Do not stop to pray and meditate because of bad thoughts or temptations. If you stop praying or meditating (i.e., if you flee from prayer) you let the devil win and you loose everything.

I remember the first time I read the Word of God in the New Testament. Every time I read the name of “God”, I got blasphemous thoughts in my mind. I did not know where these thoughts came from, nor did I agree with these thoughts, but it made me realize that something was happening. I did not let these thoughts get the better of me (with God’s grace, of course) and I continued to read the New Testament, and the sacrilegious thoughts eventually disappeared. What happened? Obviously, the devil was jealous and did not want me to continue reading, and so he tempted me with bad thoughts with the intention that I would perhaps stop reading or commit some sin. When people give in to bad thoughts – such as blasphemous thoughts – they might start to hate, and consequently they might feel a reluctance to continue reading and hence stop. That is why people who already hate God might not even start to read the New Testament or honestly think about God in their mind even in the first place. Had I not fought against my bad thoughts in the beginning of my conversion, I might have started to hate God instead.

When one prayer feels hard to pray, pray something else. It is better to pray something then nothing. Just praying the Hail Mary prayer without meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary is an immensely good and beneficial prayer by itself. (One don’t have to pray the Rosary in order to pray the Hail Mary prayer or the Our Father, but they can and should be said separately often during the day). I my self often just try to focus on the words of the Hail Mary prayer with the intention of pleasing the Blessed Virgin as much as possible. You can try to do the same if you have problems with praying, or if even this is hard for you, just pray the Hail Mary prayer faster without thinking much of the words, and you will also gain graces and help. If it is something I have noticed with the Hail Mary prayer is that it gives you good and holy thoughts, and also that it gives you insights into problems and issues you might want to fix in your spiritual or temporal life. I have not only noticed this my self, but also seen others testify to this effect. The Hail Mary prayers thus gives you tremendous graces, insights, good thoughts, and hope! So if you want hope, continue praying! Without prayer, you won’t have any hope of eternal life or of ever finding God. You might find “hope” in creatures, like atheists do, but this hope is false, and if your hope is not based on spiritual things, it won’t profit you anything for eternal life.

An email testimony about the Holy Rosary: “Due to your articles, I am now also praying the full 15 decades of the Rosary daily, in fact I had to reinvent my life, centering my daily routines around the Rosary. It was difficult at first, and unnatural, but as I persevered I started receiving incredible graces that I would have never imagined in my life, out of nowhere. I was shocked as to the coincidence of them as they started a few weeks after praying the Rosary and remained ever since! Currently I am reading your Padre Pio's book… Thank you Brothers, for the wonderful content and the effect it had on my life…”

Never say or think, "I'm going to hell anyway, what difference will it make to commit another venial or mortal sin?" It makes a tremendous difference! For by every new mortal sin committed, and especially if it is deliberate, a new Hell is created for yourself, so to speak. Also consider that God should be your best friend and hope for better things – why then offend Him more or think thoughts such as these against Him? What if your best friend made some offense against you, and instead of asking for pardon or thinking good of you for this mistake or offense, thought only of offending you more? Would this not be a strange, displeasing and offensive behavior from this so-called friend – and would it not make you feel sad and perhaps even justly angry with him? From this example one can see how wrong these thoughts are that you expressed. Please do not make your best friend sad by thinking of how to displease Him more!

Instead of thinking of displeasing God and sinning more against Him when one feels fallen or lost, one should instead consider and think thoughts like these: O my God and my Lord, even if I am damned I would still like to serve you and give you things (works, good deeds, charities etc.) and do things out of Love for you since you are worthy of this. Even if I am not saved and live a bad life, I will still try not to offend you deliberately with mortal or venial sin, and I will try to better my self. I might not live the best of life, but I will still try not to offend you with deliberate sins! I might fall or will into sins in the future because I am weak, but for the moment, I desire to please you and not sin anymore. And even should I go to Hell, I would like not to hate you there and if possible, even to love you! – I can promise you, if you think thoughts like this instead of thoughts on how to offend the good God more, all your despair and bad feelings against God will disappear – and you will feel hope and that the Good Spirit is approaching you. If you think good thoughts about God and yourself (i.e., hopeful thoughts), then God will think good about you and do good to you and give you all the graces necessary for saving your soul and feeling true joy and happiness in your life.

Also, if you feel bad, pray for the grace to feel happy! We can pray for anything that are not sinful or against God, but often we do not even think of praying for things like feeling happiness when being down etc. You can pray for anything, such as being the best friend of God and lover of God, to feel happiness, to gain wisdom, to gain the love of God, to gain charity and love of neighbor etc.

Please read the following important article that deals specifically with the issue of being forgiven one’s sins with or without priestly absolution – and what requirements and intentions are needed for being forgiven:

It is true that more demons will come to your soul and body provided you continue living in a bad will and in sin against the good God, but as fast as you change your will from sin, and start seeing hope and goodness in God, and you honestly consider how you will gain back God into your life, all the demons will be removed from you through God’s grace. Being in a state of grace is really all about intentions. What is your intention in life? To be God’s enemy, or His friend? If you want to be God’s friend, then God wants to be your best friend in return! Stop therefore to dwell on bad and negative thoughts about God and think instead of how you can be raised from the dead (mortal sin). Only if you don’t have an intention of serving God or avoid sin, should you rightly and justly dwell on such negative thoughts – such as that it will be impossible to be forgiven or feel repentance – because if one don’t want to be God’s friend or avoid sin, then one will be damned. But even if one is fallen so low as this, one should still not give up hope or fall into despair. As long as you wish to be saved, you can be saved and God will never abandon you, and He will remain with His Grace even until the last moment of your life.

If you need hope, please go to Our Blessed Lady, the Virgin Mother of God, Mary Most Holy. The Blessed Virgin Mary is God’s Grace to humankind for saving their souls easily. That is why Mary is called “Hope of the Despairing”, “Refuge of Sinners”, etc. Go to Her often, and especially when you wish and desire to gain back God’s friendship (or increase it when already had). One prayer from the Mother of God will gain back God into your life and it is not hard to gain the advocacy, friendship and love of Mary. All you have to do is to intend never to offend God again deliberately and to serve Him, according to your dispositions. That is all!

Please consult the following articles below that deals specifically on this topic. Read them all, since they will inflame your love for the Mother of God, Our Lady, Queen and Mistress. If you Love Mary, you Love God, and it is easier for many to love and approach Mary, since She is merciful and sweet. God is also merciful, but He is also just and Our Judge. But Mary is not Our Judge in this sense, and hence Her mercy and sweetness is more manifest and clear to many, since they don’t fear Her as they fear God.

You say you can’t ask anyone to pray for you! That is false! You must ask other people, and especially the Saints and the Virgin Mary, to pray for you when you feel down and in sin! How do you think you will rise up again otherwise after having fallen? By your own effort? Never! or through God’s Grace through His friends? Assuredly! If we can ask help from people on earth, then we can ask for help from our Heavenly family even more! Never forget that! The more sinful you are, the more help you need, and hence you should be asking all kinds of Saints – and especially those you are more attached to – too pray for you and help you to be Saved all the days of your life. Yes, if you are attached to some saint, try to find prayers that are addressed to them where you can specify requests that you want them to ask God for on your behalf. I will give you a few examples of such prayers from Most Holy Family Monastery:

And no, Saints do not ignore prayers of people in mortal sin! Provided you ask for help, however bad you are or however lost you feel, you will still gain some help and graces. Sure, the more hope and good will you have, the more graces you will receive. But it is not true to say that they will ignore you. Even with the weakest faith on earth or with no faith at all, you will still gain graces enough to save your soul, provided you only ask for help and want to be saved! You don’t have to ask everything from God all the time if you feel a hard time to approach Him, you can also go to the Saints and ask for their help – and they in turn will turn to the Blessed Virgin and beseech Her in your place, and She in turn will approach God with your request through the Saints. Even though all saints go to the Blessed Virgin, it is false to think that Saints should not be approached and prayed too also. Please start to pray the prayers from the link provided above, and you will notice an increase in spiritual strength and hope almost immediately. They are very powerful prayers from powerful Saints. Start to pray them everyday, I am not kidding you how much good they will do in your life. As for my self, they have done me tremendous good and often I have gained back all hope and confidence after having prayed them when feeling down or sad! Pray and you will see, pray and you will believe! If you do not pray, you will not see, and what is worse, you will loose even this grace (i.e., these prayers: http://www.mostholyfamilymonastery.com/catholicchurch/prayers-to-saints/)!

You say that if you died now you would go to Hell but that you are not yet dead and that there still is hope therefore for you and then you wonder how you can save yourself! I will give you the answer to this question! Please follow it! It is correct to say that as long as you are alive you can be saved. Never forget that! If you really want to know how to save yourself, please follow my advises on prayer, spiritual reading, and how to think positively about God and about yourself when feeling down or fallen. (Also see the post script below for more information on how to save your soul and lead a better and holier life). If you do so, you will be saved. Please also reread this email a few times if needed.

I hope this answers your questions, and that it has given you some hope and light. Never loose hope! If there is anything else, do not hesitate to contact me and I will try to help you to the best of my abilities.

Sincerely,
Jerome
